Jelly polishes are high in trend at the moment, so Maybelline have introduced a brand new limited edition; color show polka dots collection to the UK. Rain Forest Canopy is my latest purchase and it is a deep teal jelly based colour in which various sizes of black and white matte hex glitter chunks are suspended within. They are priced at £2.99 each but are currently part of the 3 for 2 promotion at Superdrug. The collection consists of four polishes in total: Chalk dust, Shooting stars, Rain forest canopy and Speckled pink.

Because it's packed with so many hexagonal glitters, application is a little tricky. I've used two coats here to get a full, even coverage but you could go ahead and do 3 coats if you wanted a more opaque depth of colour. As you apply layers, the white glitters get covered by the jelly base, taking on different hues of green, and this adds a lovely depth and dimension to the nail.

Hey guys! Here's a super quick and easy swirl drag marble art design, which was inspired by My simple little pleasures. The base colour used is Barry M Gelly Hi shine - Blueberry, marbled with Angelica - Ocean (this colour is actually iridescent so it changes from a deep blue/teal to a deep purple). I don't usually buy thin shimmer polishes but this was on sale at Primark for just £1 so I couldn't resist!! See didn't I tell you.. you don't need expensive brands for glamorous looking nails :D

Flash shot to capture the shimmer.

Right hand.

As you can see it's super glossy already, so I didn't add a top coat.

The colour looks alot brighter and lighter here due to the sunlight.

Close up - under the sunlight so you can see how shimmery the ocean colour is.

Hey lovelies!

Peppermint is a shade from the spring/summer 2013 collection by a brand named Angelica, which I have never seen or bought from before. I saw it for the first time in Primark the other day, and even though I never buy any cosmetics or beauty products from Primark (simply because I'm a little conscious of buying budget products for my skin, since my skin is very sensitive), I loved this gorgeous spring colour and wanted to try it out. It's priced at £2.75 and it's from their 'Satin Matte' range. I must say I was pleasantly surprised! The polish gives an incredibly smooth, soft matte finish (and obviously didn't add a top coat since I didn't want to ruin that result).

Happy Bank Holiday weekend everyone! Hopefully you're all enjoying the lovely weather and not caught up in exam season like me :( Ahh well doesn't stop me from painting my nails :)

I'm a little obsessed with the striping tape rolls at the moment and I managed to get an absolute bargain off ebay (10 rolls for just 49p with FREE P&P)! Hard to believe I know!! Each one is a different colour and you can have endless fun experimenting with different designs and colours. Here's a simple design I started off with. I used Maxfactor - Intense Plum and Nails Inc - Southbank.

The base colour (2 coats).

sorry for the untidy cleanup, my brush broke so had to make do with a cotton bud :(
